Jonathan P. Tieman maintains a general legal practice and provides counsel across a broad range of legal matters. His primary areas of focus include Family Law, Mediation, Real Estate, Corporate and Commercial Law, Wills and Estates, and Civil Litigation.

Born in Drumheller and raised in Medicine Hat, Jonathan earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Calgary in 2004. He subsequently obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of Alberta in 2007 and was called to the Alberta Bar on August 29, 2008. In October 2021, Jonathan completed his Master of Laws (LL.M.) at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University.

Since 2008, Jonathan has served as a sessional instructor in the Faculty of Business Administration at Medicine Hat College, where he teaches Business Law.

Jonathan has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta, including Provincial Court (Criminal, Youth, Civil, and Family divisions), the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta, and the Alberta Court of Appeal.

In addition to his legal practice, Jonathan is actively involved in the community. He is a charter member of the Medicine Hat Community View Lions, serves as Treasurer of the Saamis Immigration Services Association, and is President of the Sanare Centre (Southeast Alberta Sexual Assault Response Committee). He is also Treasurer of the Alberta Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC) and Co-Chair of the Canadian Bar Association Child and Youth (South) Section.
